The city of Boise Idaho, indeed the entire state of Idaho, is somewhat of a well-kept secret from the rest of the world.
You're here on this site because something made you want to learn more about our beautiful, but unappreciated western city. Perhaps you have family who live here or near here... or you thought it might be nice to see "the potato state"... or you got a good deal on plane tickets to our fair city... ![]()
Who knows?
Whatever your reasons, I'm really glad you found this site! Because I'm a real person who lives right here in Boise, so you'll have your own personal tour guide to take you by the hand and show you everything that western Idaho has to offer the discerning traveler. Use the navigation on the left, or just start clicking on the gallery images below to explore all that Boise has to offer!

When I first came here to visit family, I was amazed that I had never heard much about the natural beauties in what's called the Treasure Valley, where Boise is located. When I said as much, my cousins said, "Don't tell anyone else! We like to keep the secrets of Boise and Idaho to ourselves!"
I never dreamed at that point that I would be doing more than vacationing here one day, but here I am... I've lived here for more than 3 years now, and I am still in awe of all that this area has to offer. So, you can follow along with me as I discover the beauties of Boise Idaho.
I've created this travel guide to help people who visit the area get the most out of their time here. If you're only here a week or two, you're never going to see everything, but you can see a lot! So, pull up a cup of coffee or tea, along with a pencil and some notepaper, and start exploring the pages of the site...
Basically, you can plan on Discover-Boise-Idaho.com to be your one-stop website to learn EVERYthing about Boise and the Treasure Valley... what to do here, where to stay, insider tips only residents know, and more. It might even seem overwhelming. But break it down into categories that fit with how much time you'll have here, what kinds of things you like to do, etc.
Do you enjoy exploring cities and their downtown areas? Boise has that... although at around 200K, our city isn't that big. Still, it's one of the larger cities in the mountain west. We do have a downtown area, filled with shopping, museums, a wide variety of restaurants, nightclubs and even a summer weekend farmer's market.

Do you enjoy being outdoors, as long as it doesn't get too strenuous? Great! Boise Idaho offers that too. Every visitor should walk and/or bicycle on at least part of our gorgeous paved Greenbelt path. It runs right through the city, but also goes for a full 25 miles... and growing. You can walk as little or as much as you like. We also have 4 large parks (and counting) right within the city limits. In those parks you can find a rose garden, a nature walk, a wildfowl nesting area, a bandshell, and so much more.
Or maybe you're a full-on outdoorsy type? You'll fit right in... Boise folks love to be outdoors, and most of the year, the weather cooperates! Besides the 25 miles of Greenbelt, you can find hiking and mountain biking trails on almost all the foothills surrounding the city of Boise. You can raft, canoe or kayak the Boise River, or if you want more excitement, the nearby Payette River. You can boat on the Lucky Peak reservoir. Or, in the winter, you can ski our Bogus Basin just 7 miles outside town.
What's that? You want to watch some great sports while you're here? Boise has that too! You'll find Boise State University (BSU), home of the blue turf and the mighty Broncos football team, among other great sports like men's and women's basketball (my favorite), a stellar wrestling team and winning track stars. Or, if you prefer professional sports, Boise offers D-league basketball (Idaho Stampede), minor league baseball (Boise Hawks) and AA minor league hockey (Idaho Steelheads).
But that's not all... I also have the rundown on where to stay in and around Boise, great places to eat, no matter what your budget and even some fine places to explore outside of the Treasure Valley, if you're here long enough.
And once you visit... be sure to come back to the site and participate in "Your Boise Idaho", the interactive section where you can tell your Boise stories, leave tips about vacationing here, or just share your Boise pictures and Boise videos.
Before you know it, you're going to have a solid plan for your time here... so howdy and welcome to Boise Idaho!
Warmly,

We love to hear from our visitors how well the site meets your needs... good or bad. So won't you leave us some comment love...?
